The 00 and pg is what it does when it thinks it has a rmeote control receiver plugged in.  (the pg changes to something that looks like AC or RC after a moment if all is well and you do have a remote set up)

If you don't have one of these, it sounds like some sort of anomaly making it think a receiver is hooked into the jack on the back.

Dave Thanks for the reply.   It's putting itself in program mode.  The side that's doing this left side doesent even have a track hooked to it this morning I got the manual out and tried a program reset when you do this the other side will black out that's normal the thing is this will happen by itself just sitting there no one touching it. working again but I think its a matter of time before it happens again.

Jeff,

This is a long shot...

Look at the back of the Z4000 for a rubber plug that fits inside a telephone-type jack.

That's where a Z4000 Remote Commander Receiver would plug in. Remove the plug and make sure that none of the 4 pins are touching each other.

If they are, straighten them. I'm guessing that shorting pins could possibly cause a Z4000 to think that it's in program mode.

I had a Z-4000 quit because a ribbon wire was pinched during assembly. Did a 4 wire "bypass" to get it working.

Than another one quit and my electronic guy says this board is bad.

What is the best way to get a replacement? Note, they are probably made about 20 miles from here. The good news - my three 65 year old ZW's are working fine.
