Just received a 65th birthday present A MTH PS3 6-8-6 Imperial Turbine Steam Engine and cannot get the train to do anything in conventional operation let alone DCS which is a whle other issue. I downloaded the manual to make sure of charging procedure and did find out there is no battery or charging pin. So I followed the directions and the engine simply will not respond. Is it possible the engine is defective, or is there something I am not looking at. The botton on the tender indicates DCC or DCS. Since I am currently having my DCS system to work I tried to have the engine work on a conventional track and nothing. On conventional mode should the button be DCC or DCS. Need any help possible. Next option is to call where the train was purchased and explore that option. Other PS2 engines work on the track used so I am certain that the power connection is not the issue. Thanks!

Check to make sure that the tether is plugged fully into the tender receptacle, check to make sure that the plug on the locomotive side of the tether is fully plugged into the tether. If you feel brave, you can take the loco shell off, and make sure that the large wire plug is fully plugged into the board (gently), and make sure that the two wires on the engineer's side of the large wire plug are fully inserted into the plug itself. I would first try to run it in conventional, if it then works, try adding the loco to DCS. Keep us posted.

Train Doctor   Thanks fr the tip. I have already taken the shell off originally looking to see if there was a battery, and then found out that PS3 do not. I have checked the exterior tether but will go back in to check what you mentioned. I will keep you posted. At this point I am thinking of making a phone call to the dealer to see what can be done. New out of the box should be good but you never know I guess. Thanks DanOriginally Posted by Train Doctor:
