I got a QSI SideKick II primarily for a bell button and to activate features on my PS1 engines (and now my one PS2 engine.) It worked fine for a while, then one day (oh, about a week before I got my first PS2 engine) it stopped working. The indicator LEDs still light up, but there is no power out to the track. I opened it up and there's no obviously failed components or burn marks. Any ideas where to start?

Replace the battery?
Without ever seeing one, I have no idea really, I'd probably start looking for components in the power path to see if there's one that's just failed.
The manual I found (attached) mentions a battery.
I went back and you're right, they run the descriptions together and they managed to fool me. 
P.S. finally activating freight yard sounds = anticlimactic. Although PS2 should include the squeal/coupler slack noise EVERY time the locomotive starts moving.
