Odd thing... as I am building my parts list order for the first week in Nov. and I cannot find the 6-1XXXX numbers for these trucks

If I search for them under a PS-1 box car they say unavailable? Can someone help me find the 6-1XXXX numbers for these trucks and where they can be purchased?

Thanks.

"The auction sites are loaded with freight cars that have these trucks..."

Yes - and the trucks themselves (and similar) are available on eBay and the like. Prices vary.

I just received, today (eBay), 2 leading trucks and a trailing truck from the brass Lionel Smithsonian Hudson, for future projects. Parts are dangerous - they lead to more projects, which lead to more parts...

I ran into the same problem almost 2 months ago while starting to put together a parts order for the annual 50% off parts deal that Lionel has during their open house.   The style of trucks that you are looking for(diecast,  50 ton,  friction bearing trucks,  with coupler, and the hidden flat plate uncoupling mechanism with tab-meaning no thumb tack) are no longer available from Lionel.   I don't know if Lionel used up their supply of these trucks on their scale rolling stock through 2016,  or when the word got out about their NEW improved trucks,   one or several people,  dealers or whomever purchased all these remaining old style trucks from Lionel.   As mentioned previous in this thread,  the #6-14251 diecast modern roller bearing trucks w/rotating bearing caps and the older style hidden flat plate w/tab uncoupling mechanism are available.    However the replacement diecast 50 ton friction bearing trucks that you are looking for have been replaced with the #6-14078  diecast 50 ton friction bearing trucks with the NEW improved thumbtack style uncoupler that has been widely discussed here on the Forum.   I had ordered a pair of them for use on a Weaver car that was missing its trucks and they are not a direct replacement,  contrary to what was promised-that's another story.   You might want to call Lionel and and specifically ask them what the replacement is for the trucks you are looking for and see what they say.

My guess: They let the supply run out. Lionel does not keep a deep stock of parts for non-current items any longer. Sometimes they blow the parts out to North Lima Train works. Usually the Lionel parts list will refer the customer to NLTW when that has been done.

If the improved trucks are the ones with the plunger hanging down, I guess they may have had a run on the older style.

I'd go the EBay / train show route and cannibalize cars.

Sent  you an e-mail with pictures.    Think I have the trucks you seek.

Lost Webshots years ago.   Not about to pay $300 a year for Photobucket.

Thank you Joe, sending you a note back. I do allot of free repairs for people and our club so I will put them to good use.

I have to admit... lots of helpful people on this forum.

Thanks!
