I just purchased my MTH Turbotrain and I am having problems using it with my DCS remote. The remote cannot find the engine, I have tried it on two tracks and did all the troubleshooting I can find to do. I can use the DCS commander (Desktop version) and everything seems to work okay but when I press add it says ER. I can use my DCS remote with another PS3 engine and it works fine too. I am thinking there might be an issue with the Turbotrain. Any suggestions?

Check to make sure the DCS/DCC switch is in the DCS position. See the manual for the switch location.

Maybe check to see if the track power is routed thru a variable port. If it is, try switching it to the FIXED 1 input.

Purchase Barry's DCS O gauge Companion and the OGR DCS Video Guide, read the book and watch the video on how exactly to set up your DCS, use a programming track with no other engines on the track, when 1st setting up. It actually sounds like you are not set up correctly, if you are set up correctly, your engine maybe faulty.

As a last resort, I have found that sometimes if you reset the remote, you can find it. However, it'll blank your entire remote in the process.
Have you tried to run it with just a transformer handle (i.e. the electronics DO work)?

I have considered purchasing the guide but I only have two MTH locomotives, I will probably purchase in the near future. I reset the remote and now I can find the engine and it works as it should. Thank you for the reply.
