I have the Lionel Legacy two axle Shay (Elk River #1). The front splined shaft pulls out of the splined receiver. Does anyone know the fix? Is the front spline swaged into the receiver spline? I hate to do anything too drastic for fear I break one of the Chinese pot metal parts.
Thanks for suggestions....and that engine should never run on less than an O45 radius....and always run s l o w.
>>>thanks for the suggestions! it sounds like the issue is very common.....I leave the Shay in the lumber mill barn most of the time because of its high failure rate....I swaged the spline back into the receiver and luckily didn't break anything in the process....if it comes apart again, I'll try the rubber band around the bushing <<<
