there are only two items missing from the new forum that was incorporated on the old forum...it may be me or my computer, but...

#1- on the old forum once you read a thread and returned to the main page, that thread was highlighted in a different color, so you [I] knew i had already read it. It does not seem to do it now.

#2- there is no "back browser" tabs, [i think that is what they are called] on the bottom of the thread page. so once you read to the bottom of the page, you have to scroll all the way back up to the top of the page to get to the tabs that say "Forums-Trains- 3 Rail O gauge Trains"

like i said it may be my computer, not a hit on the Webmasters

Yea  I miss that too.

Frank,

The threads are still highlighted in a different color, but only as the mouse passes over them. If you just roll the mouse down the column of threads, you can tell quickly which have been read.

Also, the word "NEW" will appear to the right of the thread, if a post has been made since you last visited the thread.

To get back to the top of the page, just hit the "HOME" key on your keyboard.

It will take a while for all of us to discover the new way of doing the old things. I'm getting there!

Funny thing is, Hoop.la could code it for their forum software, so it would function as the rest of the internet world does, since over on the right in the "Recent post" box, any thread you've been to over there stays the "already read it" color.

Again, not an OGR thing, but a Hoop.la design thing.  They wanna be hip.

Jim P., what's a mouse and what's a home key? I'm using Safari (and the iPhone app) on both an iPad and iPhone and neither device has a keyboard. When using the 'old' forum I could tell what I had viewed without needing a keyboard. When I worked in I/T, one of the work products was a list of functions no longer available. Nowadays it seems that no one wants to produce such a list for (insert your favorite reason here). Little things like these may affect a small percentage of the user community, but there still is an impact. Just my 2 cents.

John, not sure where you "started" from when you hit back but........

That might be a browser thing. With Chrome, I hit back and go back to the main page of the thread. OR....if your mouse has a back button use that, I still go back to main, not top of the thread.

IE8 has a real problem handling this forum. I have it and Chrome running at the same time.  Stuff does not display properly, BUT the back button does take you back...say from this thread to the 3-Rail page, it did for me anyway. Same w/ the button on the mouse. It may be time for me to upgrade to IE 9 even though I rarely use it. I hate new stuff!

I would bet that Firefox is behaving nicely for those using it.

I am not sure why you are being taken to the top of the page. Many do wish that would happen for them. We need either links at the bottom like at the top, or a Top Of Page link.
