Nickel Plate Road steam locomotive no. 765 now has a roller bearing trailing truck and Nickel Plate Road diesel locomotive no. 358 has brand new batteries and electrical components thanks to a donation from Crown Battery in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Click here to read more on the restoration of the SD9-type diesel built to replace the 700s in the late 1950s.
765 is due back at Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad in September for excursions and six miles of Throttle Time. For a summary of our operations announced this year, click here.
The 358's new batteries were installed last weekend with the help of one of our youngest active volunteers, Carson Miller, whose dad is project manager for the restoration.
We're still raising money to help complete the job: http://fortwaynerailroad.org/project-358/
