I have a two rail Fastrack uncoupling section which worked for about ten times and then quit. I’ve removed it from the layout and connected it directly to a small Lionel transformer and still nothing. Anyone have any suggestions as to what’s going on? Thanks.

I’d check across the coil for continuity (less than a few Ohms). You could also check to see if the button is malfunctioning by bypassing the control button; temporarily jumper across the uncoupler controller terminals to see if the coil energizes. Be careful not to leave the coil energized for more than a few seconds and power it with only 10 to 14 volts AC. Higher voltages and direct current cause the coil to overheat faster potentially leading to permanent failure.
Good idea! I hadn’t thought about the button itself might have failed. I’ll give it a try tomorrow. BTW..the transformer (just two terminals) I used was the small one that came with a Docksider set and I only set the throttle at about half to minimize the risk of too much current.
