Hey everyone,

Yesterday I stopped at the SRC to catch their first "two train day" of the season.

Here is a video I shot: (This video contains scenes of 90 breaking approx. 30 mph for the first time in many years to keep on schedule)

Have a wonderful Independence Day!

Thanks.  Great video.  Is the 90 a 2-8-0 Connie?   How routinely do they run her?  And how routinely do they have two-steamer operation underway?   I've been there a few times.  Great place.  Don't recall the 90 or dual steamer ops.   May have a reason soon to get up that way again.   Thanks again.

Have a happy Fourth!

The #90 is former Great Western (think sugar, out in Colorado) and is a 2-10-0. They operate her regularly, since she has been there for more than 20 or 30 years, as well as former N&W 4-8-0 #475.

Thanks for the compliment!

90 was down for an overhaul from approximately January of 2015 to February of 2016. All of her wheels were turned and her running gear was completely overhauled.

They usually run two steamer operations during the summer months of July and August. They also run two steamer operations during the Christmas train season. If I were you I would definitely, stop by and check it out during two train days. Since they have two trains running they have to keep on a tight schedule and thus run the locomotives a little faster than the normal 20 mph.

Great photos here. My friend George and I from the National Capital Trackers will be taking a day trip to Strasburg on Saturday. We both haven't been up there since about 2007/2008 (Spring 2007 for me, rode behind the #7312 0-6-0). We kept talking about going but we are finally just going to do it and we are SO excited! It will be a long day trip for us - about a 2.5 hour drive each way, spend the morning at the Railroad Museum of PA, afternoon riding the train and seeing the TCA Museum. Choo Choo Barn and Strasburg Train Shop time permitting.

We just can't wait - Saturday can't come soon enough!

You'll have a great time! Be sure to get your fluids and eat something so you don't tire out too quick!

#90 has been there for almost 50 years, they got in in late '67 early '68.
