Uh-Oh. Disconnected Wire Loose Under Shell. Where Does It Belong? | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I opened the shell to service the smoke unit on my Lionel NKP RS-11 (6-38460). When I opened the shell, there was a loose black wire, unattached. I'm not sure if it came loose while opening, or was already disconnected. Anyway, I can't see an obvious place to re-connect it. Can someone please advise? The first picture shows that the problem wire (black) is part of a grouping from the roof of the shell. The three other wires connect to the switches on the roof (blue to PGM/Run, green to ODY/No ODY, and red to Smoke/No Smoke). No obvious place for the loose black wire to connect on the roof. The second picture shows where these wires plug in to the board. Does the black wire connect somewhere else on the roof, or maybe another place on another board? Help!

Look at that board on the shell. One of those pins probably has some solder or broken wire on it, while the others may be clean. That might provide for an obvious conclusion.

The black wire is the common wire for all the switches on that panel. It connects to the place where the switches are bused together.

Here's an example schematic from Bruk's Legacy board document.
