As a result of a contest involving schoolchildren, Virgin Trains has decorated a Class 91 electric locomotive and a companion driving van trailer along with the driving motors of a Class 390 Pendolino in special Christmas liveries. Running on their usual routes, the 91 and its DVT, wearing the design created by eleven year old Madeleine Deakin, are assigned to the East Coast Main Line route while the 390, the design of which is by nine year old Amber Maxfield, operates on the West Coast Main line. Unveiled during a ceremony at King's Cross station, from the Virgin Trains website, here are pictures of the girls posing with the equipment along with a video. Nice stuff and very, very cool...well done by all concerned.
