Last night after we finished hosting bridge at our house, one of our new couples asked to see my layout that they had heard so much about. I'm also pleased to show and share my layout with friends that have an interest. There were all the usual comments from friends that are not model railroaders, when the wife asked about gandy dancers. This started a lively discussion about this term and what it represented. I have never had it brought up before.
Then another guest started quoting a lot of railroad history which also amazed me. He then asked if I had ever thought of taking pictures with a camera in front of the engine to get the engineer's perspective? I said that I had already done that and had several videos on YouTube. He had to see them before they went home and we all adjourned to the PC in my office to watch train videos. I showed them the last one I took of Rich's new Lionel Big Boy running on the layout and they were all very impressed. It turned out to be a really fun way to end an evening of card playing.
For those of you that have never seen any of my videos, here is a link to my YouTube channel.
