In this video, who is this girl right behind the engineer? She's wearing a striped shirt and she's letting her hair fly in the tremendous draft. I assume she's trying to text someone because I can just make out the shape of her phone. Anybody know? Maybe a reporter?

Most likely the current manager's girlfriend/wife.

It's too bad that a railfan was killed during that Excursion. Things are looking like 844 may now be sidelined permanenty which would be a shame.  Of course you feel bad for the railfan that lost their life, but it was cleary not due to anything 844 did or did not do.

Where did you get that information from?

Good question, since he has a number of misinformed statements, in just the first 2 sentences.

I don't think so. I believe the below photo is Ed and his wife. I don't think that it is the same woman?

Anyway, I try to closely follow UP's steam program …. as much as an outsider can ….. and I've read nothing about negative consequences from the very tragic death that day.

What is the third car in the consist?  It has a raised top on it...  it looks like there is a baggage car, a generator car and then the car i’m asking about.  Anyone know?

That's the power generator car - supplies power to the train.  Typically the diesel in the consist was/is used for this but I'm guessing in this case the diesel is just there for assist if needed.

Nope, I don't know more than everyone else.  Had the same question and was able to pick out the car number from a paused frame in a video.  Googled it and found UP's page where it details and shows the floor plans (and some interior pics) for most, if not all, of their office car fleet.
