Per CSX Great Lakes Facebook from Alex Kolstee......

Trying to look for confirmation from someone who actually knows.

Hearing from an anonymous source that UP 1943 will be coming east around September 21-22 to go to the RailEx facility in Rotterdam, NY. Hoping someone can confirm this is actually happening or not. Thanks.

**Not looking to stir the pot, just looking to see if this is happening.

I saw this posted and wanted to copy & paste the message here.

A knowledgeable train friend of mine says it is most likely just a rumor.  The 1943 is not equipped with the proper cab signal box and to install it would be expensive.  So If it were coming it would be number 2 locomotive.  Also, the trip itself would be very expensive having to pay for a properly equipped locomotive and crew and lastly the time involved.  Thus his belief is no it is not coming.  Of course if it was coming to check out buying CSX then maybe.

UP 1943 is or at least was equipped with Conrail/PRR cab signals...  that’s how it was able to lead on NS earlier this summer.

I believe the signals were removed.

Correct! All that NS cab signal equipment was only "on loan" for the 1943 trip, and most likely will not occur again. Reportedly the UP spent something over $60,000 for that "loan and installation" of the NS cab signal equipment, which was subsequently returned to NS, and the UP/CNW equipment reinstalled.

Hello,

Does anyone know the exact route of the train? Also, in New York, will there be a spot to see it? Thanks,

Ricky

Just my opinion but, I believe the whole thing was/is just a rumor. In my opinion, it will not happen again, especially since it cost the UP about $59,000 to remove their own UP/CNW cab signal/ATC equipment, then install the "on loan" NS cab signal equipment, then remove the NS equipment, and finally re-install their own UP/CNW equipment.

Just received this message from my friend who has NS/CSX connections. -

Friday UP 1943 is reportedly bringing the UP OCS through Ohio on CSX Indy Line en-route to New York.

If you go to Heritage Units.com you can track its progress.  Probably getting on the Indy line at Greenwich, through Lorain County, Berea, Collinwood and up your way.  Supposedly doing a return trip sometime Saturday and expected in Ohio again on Sunday.
