Hi,

I have a Lionel UP, SD40T-2, 6-38936 engine with a bad rear lighting assembly.  The part number is: 6308921333.  The parts list says "unavailable."  Can the newer assembly, 6804622321-p be used as a direct replacement?  Does anybody have the old assembly that they want to sell?

Thanks,

Lonnie

I would say no, cannot substitute those parts "easily". At least one problem, it looks like the original harness is a 6 pin connector.

It just seems logical to me, if you could go about reverse engineering, wiring, and soldering the new one up, then why in the heck would not just replacing the old LEDs in the failed PCB make more sense?

Again, if you are replacing the board to avoid soldering, well I think it still needs soldering......

Paying $14+$10 shipping, even in the half off this weekend, that's still every bit of $17+ dollars, for what looks to be 4 LEDs.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.  I was thinking of doing basically the same thing.  I have some 3mm Evans clear LEDs for the headlights, but I'll have to order some 1.8mm red LEDs for the marker lights.  I don't mind soldering.  I used to fix computers in the 60's and 70's when we actually had to replace transistors and chips on boards.  I also built a Heathkit GR-2000 televison kit in the mid 70's that had 17 boards that had to be built.  Thanks again for your reply.

Lonnie
