Last weekend I was in downtown Atchison, Kansas when I spotted Union Pacific SD90 nos. 8168 and 8247 ascending the western banks of the Missouri River. Unfortunately, I inadvertently switched my camera off as the train rolled by. I jumped in my car and chased the train out of town admiring its determination as it climbed the hills along the western edge of the city. I gained ground and caught the train at the Neosho Road country crossing where I made the first part of this video. The SD90s look great as they lean into the curve with a long mixed freight. Later, in the second part, the terrain levels out along Highway 73 and the train's speed picks up. I wish I had a driver that day as I paced the train for about 7-10 miles along Highway 73. This video was shot with a Canon S100 digital camera which captures the video with less distortion than my Canon M30 digital camcorder.
