Hi:

Having completed the wiring in my shop earlier, I found a very useful way to use up some excess wiring materials.  These wire organizers are designed to keep vertical multiple house wiring bundles in the center of a 2x4.

I find that you can string about 20 #12 or more stranded wires horizontally without having to tie them up.  This will make addition or modifications to the under layout a whole lot easier.  Instead of nailing (Keeps excessive jarring from ruining trackwork) I drill 2 holes in each on the drill press and attach with sheet metal screws.

I have not seen anyone else doing this, but just thought you might like to see the application.  An excellent way of using up extra's.   I bought the original batch at an electrical supply house but bought another bag (reasonably priced) at Lowes.

Thanks...   Tom

Hi Again:

Here are the details of the MultiCable Staples I used.  The red ones are the second bag purchased from Lowes.   These are a little different than the white ones purchased at a local electrical supply house.  They both perform about the same.  The red ones have a plastic keaper over the top of the 4 conductor slots.

I believe I will have two rows of these under the layout.  One row (top) will be for all the 12 AWG zone wiring.  The Lower row will be for Tortoise controls.  I can foresee a 3rd row for LED and Grain of Wheat lighting.

The best feature is that once they are installed, you never need to use a tool to remove any screws while adding or subtracting conductors.  There is also no need to feed wires through a hoop or ring.  You can remove all the wires and replace them in any desired order.  You can distinguish different uses by placing select groups of wires in finger slot #1, #2 , #3 or #4.

You should be able to find these near the wire-nuts.

Thanks...   Tom
