Well, I thought about being "organized", but since it's going to be over a number of days, I figured I'd just toss all the stuff up on the shelves and sort it out later.  At least they'll be out, and I can also inventory them while they're up there.

Very nice. You get to look at your trains now. Much more enjoyable when viewed rather than being in a box.

Organization is greatly overrated. I mean HOW do you plan to organize? All types of engines together? By RR? By the age of the engine? By command control? By how much you like one or another? By the best looking arrangement? By color? By the last left standing RR to the one that went broke first?

I like your method. Just put them on a shelf.

How many of those steamers have super chuffers installed?

A lot of the TMCC ones.  None of the Legacy, though I am considering one for the C&O 10-Wheeler, it doesn't have idle smoke, and the chuffing leaves something to be desired.  It has a smoke logic PCB that just runs the fan, and it also has a standard chuff switch.  I could drop the Super-Chuffer right in and get enhanced smoke performance, that would be sweet.  The new smaller Super-Chuffer should fit easily where the smoke logic PCB sits, so not fit issues.

You must be the first model RR'er to run out of shelves, ever.

Yes, I'm sure I am.

I do have another 22 foot wall that I'll probably fill with shelves, that will be for more rolling stock and/or complete consists like passenger trains.  That's next on the agenda, I'm just trying to get rid of a bunch of big boxes so I have room to work over in the area I need to build more shelves.   If I can get a lot of these out of boxes, they'll be a lot more attractive and also take a lot less space.

Still Jonesing for my Mianne bench work to come in so I can get started over there!

John: Before we moved and I had shelves up on every wall and space I could find in my old train room and basement and finally ran out of shelves and places to put them and had as much on the layout as possible. When we started to pack up and move I found stuff under the layout packed away since I bought it new, some over 10 years and in the process found that I had almost the same amount packed as I had out. Really upset the wife and shocked the heck out of me. Can I make a suggestion and unpack everything before adding anymore or you may end up like I did with a lot of duplicates.

The biggest problem is not shelves, most of the time, it is wall space shortage to install them onto!  Nice shelf / display area, John..... looking good.

Jesse

I agree with Jesse, at least in my case.  I want to put in a scenic backdrop, which leaves me with no wall space for shelves.  At least for now.  If our older daughter would ever get some strong young men over here to move her 100+ year old upright piano out of the new train room, I could put some shelves there.  Given the option of moving it myself or waiting, I’ll just wait!  I helped move the younger daughter’s spinnet piano, and my piano days are over!  LOL

John, You will LOVE your Mianne benchwork!!!  It really dresses things up.

Any shelf walls that are angled (like roof angle)?  I've been semi-looking for brackets that can be put on angled walls and keep the shelf flat to the floor.

Rick, my buying has greatly tapered off until I get stuff sorted out.  I agree with your reading on the situation.

Mark, I have the back leg of the basement that won't have a backdrop, there's where the long wall is.  I have a short wall about 5 feet long that will probably get shelves as well, but I'd like to get the big one done first.

Bob, I'm certainly looking forward to getting the benchwork, it does take a lot of time.
