I didn't have my camera with me today, but as I was walking to lunch, a westbound CN freight came up the line from the Belleville Via Rail station.  As it was on the Moira River bridge I noticed that there was CNR diesel on the front and two orange diesels behind.  I stopped to watch and the second diesel was Union Pacific 4719 and the third diesel was BNSF 6709.  I have seen UP diesels on the CP mainline down at the lower end of Belleville, but not on the CN mainline.  That's power from 3 of North America's largest railways in one train.  Are there motive power pools?

In Michigan on the CN / GTW South Bend, IN to Battle Creek, MI subdivision the local freight train crews were using a UNION PACIFIC GP series diesel for a local pick-up freight train.

What happened to all the Grand Trunk Western GP38-2s and GP9Rs that used to be so numerous. Now they have to use the GEEPs from other railroads.
