Still giddy after reading about Big Boy 4014 returning to Cheyenne for restoration by the UP.
Near the end of the article I read that a fundraising trip with 4014 and a UP consist in southern California is being planned.
Now that our Webmaster has been taken to task for posting "never . . ." during the early stages of this project, I propose that his Fort Wayne group print up fancy deeds for the "ocean-front property in Kansas" that he mentioned when he asserted how unlikely was the fulfillment of our fond hopes.
I'd buy one for my train room and others for gifts. I can see 765 simmering on a beachside boardwalk. Add a bathing beauty or two in homage to Editor Freeman Hubbard, who published photos of comely railfans in RAILROAD Magazine.
This could be a great project! We could raise funds for 4014 and for Fort Wayne. We would have FUN doing it! I can hardly wait to see what the fertile imaginations on the Forum come up with!
