On the thread addressing the Weaver G5 I posted a comment complimenting the Samhongsa built PRR Williams B6sb and Weaver A5s models imported in both 2 and 3 rail versions. I also noted their potential for super detailing. Attached are several photos of an up-detailed Weaver A5s done years ago by my late friend (and PRR modelling mentor) Ray Jury. Upgrades include.
- Pilot lowered to correct height
- Turned new smoke stack
- Milled out frame under the cab
- Ash hopper and rear leaf springs
- Engine/tender deck plate
- hand grabs around coal bunker
- Electrical conduits on tender top
- Rear tender platform
I recently installed a Tsunami2 TSC2200 DCC sound decoder in the boiler (tight fit) and mounted a speaker under the stack. She runs and sounds as sweet as she looks - I think Ray would be pleased.
