Thank you for taking the time to embed the video.
Due to a busy job I rarely get to use a home computer anymore so I read and post to your forum from a phone with a tiny screen making it a bit harder to embed. Posting a link instead of embedding a video does save certain UP Steam Manager averse viewers from seeing an image that might disturb them.
But Yes. You are correct - next time I will gladly embed the video.
Thanks again!
Thanks for posting the updates. I look forward to the steam shop tour in July.

Check UP's webpage for details. Ed Dickens is also meeting with the rail-fans at every stop.

KEARNEY — A loud blast from the whistle of Union Pacific’s steam locomotive No. 844 welcomed more than 500 people who gathered to see the engine arrive in Kearney on Monday morning. The refurbished steam locomotive, the last one built for Union Pacific and put into service in 1944, stopped in Kearney as part of the company’s 2017 Home Plate tour. Donna Kush, vice president of public affairs for Union Pacific, helped organize the event as a “pre-celebration” of the 150th anniversary of the joining of the transcontinental railroad in 1869.
“We are taking advantage of the steam train coming through communities like Kearney, Grand Island and Columbus today, and presenting those communities with a commemorative golden spike to help show them our appreciation for being a railroad town,” Kush said. The railroad came through Kearney about 150 years ago. “We very much appreciate the relationship we have with communities like Kearney that really grew up and prospered early because of the railroad being there,” she said.
No. 844 pulled a series of restored passenger cars into Kearney. A passing freight train blocked the view of No. 844 to the crowd in the parking lot near North Railroad Street. When the steam engine came into view, the engine sounded its very loud whistle. Railroad buffs gathered to talk about trains with the engineers and curious onlookers photographed the engine. Officials of both the city and the company spoke about the relationship of the trains and the community.
Kush noted that a stop like this helps community members look at railroads in a new light.
“Sometimes people look at trains and only see them blocking the crossing,” she said. “They often don’t have the appreciation for what’s actually in those trains. Everything from materials that help produce electricity that helps keep our lights on, to automobiles, to the food we eat everyday — virtually everything you touch in your everyday life either came on a train or it was produced by something that was hauled on a train.

Union Pacific’s “Living Legend” No. 844 steam locomotive rolled into Council Bluffs on Monday following after its journey from Cheyenne, Wyoming. From June 16 to 27, No. 844 will be parked near TD Ameritrade Park for the College World Series. The display will be open from noon to 7 p.m. every day but June 24 and 25.
Steam Locomotive No. 844 is the last steam locomotive that was built for Union Pacific Railroad. It was delivered in 1944 and served as a high-speed passenger engine. When diesels took over all of the passenger train duties, No. 844 was placed in freight service in Nebraska between 1957 and 1959. It was saved from being scrapped in 1960 and held for special service. The engine has run hundreds of thousands of miles as a Union Pacific ambassador.
