Took my equipment up to Green Bay TV & Trains and The Owner Updated Software to the TIU and NEW WIU. No connectivity with my Serial Adapter cables. Tried a 3rd he had in stock and everything works perfect now. As far as Aux. Power Source to the TIU, I learned that its only needed if you hook up a Z1000 or 4000 To Fixed input #2 . Not needed if hook up your Transformer to Fixed power 1.

True, but if your train on FIXED 1 derails and trips the breaker, the TIU "brain" has lost power and any trains powered by the other outputs lose control. If memory serves me correctly, if you use VAR 1 or 2 to run conventional trains, the track voltages go to zero when the TIU "brain" loses power also.

The power required to run the TIU "brain" from the AUX port is negligible and any low wattage brick or wall wart with 9 to 20 volts (AC or DC) will do the job. My bench TIU runs off of an old broken cordless phone charge cradle adapter, 9 volts .75 amps.  But if you are going to run one or more AIUs with your TIU then I recommend at least 12 volts and 1.5 amps.

I dont plan on any AIU's and hopefully I wont need to run anything in Conventional mode.

I'm just surprised that 2 Brand new in the Box Serial-usb adapters would not work.
