I've updated my Getting Started with O Gauge Model Trains pages in time for all the newbies entering the hobby as Christmas approaches. It describes the most recent evolution of LionChief and has an updated list of recommended starter sets, including an example of how a complete future-proof LionChief Plus 2.0 set can be assembled for $520 list (since Lionel still doesn't sell one of their own). You can still most of my collection in the video "Lionel Pre Post War Tiny Big Action" - a somewhat ridiculous layout that crams a 11 prewar accessories and one postwar ringer along with two train operation in just 5 x 6 feet. There is a also a little educational video, "Tinplate Mashup", on how to turn an inexpensive reproduction of a wind-up tinplate car or trolley into an operating O-gauge runner.
