Upgrading ATLAS-O RS-1 to DCS

If it's similar to this one, it looks pretty simple using the MTH DCS Diesel Upgrade Kit.

The Atlas single horizontal motor diesels present a space issue for adding the electronics, but the dual vertical motored models should be fine.

My specific concerns are:

1. Is the with inside the hood enough to mount the boards flat (the external width of the ATLAS hood is the same as the external width of the RAILKING  hood.)

2. What modification needs to be made to TAS smoke unit;

3. Is there sufficient clearance for tach reader.

Without seeing it and measuring the inside dimensions, I couldn't really say if it'll fit, but my gut says yes.  The ERR Cruise Commander fit into an Atlas RS3 for me.  It was a tight fit, but it's in there.  The TAS smoke unit would need 16 ohm dual resistors to be compatible with the diesel upgrade kit.  I've seen people parallel these inside the smoke reservoir, and I've even done it a couple times myself.

Worst case for the tach reader you dispense with the holder and glue it to the motor directly, that wouldn't require any extra space.

It's really not possible to say all this works for sure without actually having the item in hand.
