I came across this while doing some research and thought some of you who model military trains may enjoy it. Has anyone out there modelled something like this in O Guage?
Interesting. Looks like its riding on a truck rim (to keep the brakes I would assume). in the front and a rail wheel in the back. A little bashing of a Tamiya deuce and a half kit with a superstreets car and you could get close, although you would probably need a tarped bed to hide the motor and electronics (not to worry you can get a resin addon kit with the tarp bed cover).
The Yakutat & Southern RR in Alaska had a very similar rail truck made from a Army deuce and a half. They used it to pull several trailers, hauling fish to the cannery.
During the Korean War, the army had 2 1/2 ton trrucks converted to rail bus ambulances. I rode these several times. It was the fastest thing on the ground --several times as fast as a Korean train---(Japanese Mfd.)
