USB to RS232 Cable

I purchased a CB-DB9 cable and it will not connect the wi-fi to the TIU. When connected, the TIU on the wi-fi just flashes. In fact, I purchased 2 of these cables and the same problem exists with both. However, the cable I use for software upgrades works perfectly (radioshack).

What am I missing?

Not all USB to serial cables are equal. Return those 2 cables and get different ones.
