I considering buying a MTH DCS system. I currently have a mix of PW 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 10 era Lionel, MTH PS, PS2 and PS3 engines. My layout is all tubular and powered by 2 PW KWs and a PW ZW. There is 6 loops and 23 spurs w 44 RC O27/042 switches. Is it possible and how many TIUs would I need.
Of course it will work. Depends a bit on how many total feet of track, but if not more than 600-800 a single L rev TIU should likely do it. I use all tubular with about 400 ft of track and a single rev Ia3 TIU and it all works just fine. The current rev L TIU has better signal strength and will accommodate more track than earlier revs.
