West vs East, road shoulders. I have lived all my life in the West and the road shoulders are well defined as we don't have the wetness in the SW. so rds. show about a 6' dirt pull off. Looking at these roads shown here the veg. comes right up to the pavement which I am at odds with. But then I do remember yrs ago traveling back East and seeing veg right up to the pavement and the use of tractors and cutting blades that extend into the shoulder to cut the high veg. down. I'd be scared pulling off the road not knowing if there is a hole etc. the car can fall into.

But I have yet to see on a model layout these tractors cutting the grass on the shoulders.
