I understand the MTH Remote Commander can only control one Proto 2 or Proto 3 engine at a time, and the controller is line-of-sight with the receiver unit. Is it possible to use two Remote Commanders to control two trains running at the same time on different tracks, with two receivers located apart, and just pointing the controller at the particular receiver for the engine you want to control?

Yes. I've done it. I put up a billboard on each side that made it so I had to be on the side the control was on to activate that particular controller. You may have to experiment if the signal bounces off walls, windows, etc, but you can "wall it of" so you can use two tracks.
I have a Remote Commander. I always say that I "don't use DCS", and I don't, in the full-Monty way. But, the little thing does do a job, within limits. Inexpensive, too. I actually use the ceiling bounce to get around the line-of-sight needs. For close control I use my TMCC/etc locos, but for cruising some of those nice never-gonna-ERR-upgrade-it PS2/3 locos, the R. Commander is OK.
Do you ever catch yourself pointing it at the engine? Weird. It's not like I have ever done that with my CAB-1, so it's not a "Lionel habit". Funny.
This thread is clearing discussing an MTH topic and not a traditional toy train so it has been moved to the appropriate MTH category.
