Hello - You'll find several replies under the thread "Who's going to the Utica train show", last reply 12/15. It's a great show.
Our store will be there! I look forward to meeting our new OGR Forum members and seeing all our former K&K customers. (I worked for K&K before purchasing their Syracuse-Liverpool store).
I will have a nice mix of new and vintage trains and some stuff I am clearing out at unbelievable prices to make room for new stuff.
(I worked for K&K before purchasing their Syracuse-Liverpool store).
I was a customer of theirs before the owner, address, & name change! It used to be The Goodie Shop, owned by Sigmund. He packed a lot of stuff in that little place.
Most if not all of our old K&K stock is long gone, so I don't expect to have anything at the show. I am thinking of bringing one of my prized K&K possessions, a Lionel poster proclaiming "store opening soon!".
We are going to be doing store inventory soon, so I will know more when I am ready to load the truck.

.......on Sunset Ave. I fondly remember that place. It was the first REAL hobby shop I ever visited. Trains stuffed from floor to ceiling!
Yep,Thats where it started for me, He swapped a cb radio for train product, lol!

Weather permitting, I'm planning to make the trip and be in Syracuse Saturday to visit JR's.

Where is the show in Utica. And is it this coming weekend ? Thanks Tstark
The Utica Train show is January 18th, in the Utica train station.
Try a web search using the term Utica Train Show.
You will find some information.
It's free parking at Union Station.
Really? Do a quick google search and you will find they have a facebook page with lots of pictures and additional information.
I don't recall there being any charge for parking, however it's been several years since I was last there.
How long will it take for you to see the show? I guess it depends on how long you take browsing the items on each sales table! Personally, I could spend an hour at this show easily.
Hope this helps.
Will it be a "decent deal"?
I will be there. I will have a table or two with some of my excess stuff for sale. Stop by and say hello and see if I have any thing you would like. I will also be looking for some deals myself. Thank you, Jon
Try Map Quest, on the internet. You can type in your home address, then the address you desire to go to. It will give you exact driving directions, times, and milage. Pretty simple.
And the majority of the trip is along the Water Level Route!
Bnsftrains,
The parking is free unless you park in a "No Parking" zone. Personally i go for the indecent deals myself. As far as pics and videos go, this is a train show, NOT Netflix or a Sony movie production. Just go to a few train shows to learn and make up your own mind about them.

Travel time from Albany, NY to Utica is typically 90 minutes.
Travel time from Albany, NY to Lee, Ma is typically an hour.
But that includes some local roads. So I'd estimate 2 to 2.5 hours.
If I was going to attend, you would have to fly to Chicago, then it would be a full days drive there, a second day to attend the show, then a third day to drive back home to the Chicago area, where you would then have to fly back to your home.
THus, I will NOT be attending a show in New York State.
Besides, Using MapQuest on your computer is really quite simple. I figured that if you were able to locate these OGR Forums, you could also use MapQuest. Once somebody told me about it, I use it for directions for either my wife or myself, as it is really handy for us old retired folks.
Worth it for who? Certainly NOT for me. We have a VERY large "Train Show/Swap" 11 out of 12 months, here in the Chicago area (DuPage County Fair Grounds), generally the second Sunday of the month. Then there is the Annual O-Scale March Meet (Saturday AND Sunday), which many consider the BEST O-Scale "meet" in the nation, with attendees from Europe and Australia!
And the majority of the trip is along the Water Level Route!
There are those that have taken the train from Rochester. If I lived closer to Syracuse, I would. Considering weather conditions, sometimes it is the smart move. It was last year.
The Amtrak schedule is perfect for those in Buffalo, Rochester or Syracuse who want to take the train to this show. Board around 7AM in Buffalo or 8AM in Rochester and arrive at the Utica station around 11. Return trip leaves Utica around 3PM and gets back to Rochester around 5PM. Much more relaxing than driving especially in winter weather.

about 3 hours.
