Okay, so I wasn't sure which forum to put this in, so I just put it in the 3rd rail traditional forum.

Has anyone heard from Paul lately?  I see he hasn't posted since 2019, and in his last post he mentioned that he was having health issues.

I know he was instrumental in getting the National Bohemian Beer reefer made.  Also, years ago, I posted that I was having trouble with a Railking streetcar.  Paul read the post, and sent me a new motor for it free-of-charge.

I fear the worst, but hope I am wrong.

I received a message from Ben on Facebook that y'all were asking about me and I want to thank you for your concern. In 2017 my life was turned upside down when my wife moved out on me and the kids as my kidneys were taking a turn for the worse. So the big layout is gone, after the kids graduated high school and college I relocated to Central VA where I live in a very rural area, 15 acres of trees and wildlife and quiet which I needed. I only have a few trains as I gave most of them along with the buildings to good homes. I do set up track under the tree at Christmas and run trains. If you see posts of Jim Mason's layout or D. Scott Smith's work at the transportation museum you can pick out some things from my old layout. I had thought about doing another layout when I moved here as I have the space, but physically do to my kidneys, back problems including a crushed sciatic nerve I just couldn't. I am on dialysis 3 times a week now which takes up a good part of my time and makes travel to York and such impossible. What free time when I am feeling good is spent driving my 1967 right hand drive AC Cobra that I found in South Africa

To be honest I stopped following the Forum as for awhile it had become so nasty and contentious and I had to get away from all that contention. I have fond memories of a lot of the good folks here will start back following the Forum. The last travel I did was in 2018 to the UK where I saw friends that model O scale and rode steam engines through the countryside. I received some pics this morning from Mike of an outing they had yesterday where there was 8 steam engines running pulling passenger trains.  My life is in God's hands and I thank him for everyday I still get. Take care and God bless you all.

Hi everyone,

I am a bit late to the party here but just wanted to say its great to see Paul posting again. I am the "Mike" he refers to earlier in the post and on the seperate new thread he started showing photos of UK steam. We became good friends because of this forum and it was my pleasure , along with his other UK steam buddies, to take him to the West Somerset Railway to travel to the seaside by steam train when he last visited the Great Britain. We had some great laughs and I got to show him some bits of England that are a bit off the normal tourist grid. He also got to visit Scotland where his ancestors hail from.

We continue to speak regularly and I copy him in on and "steam photos" As you all know he is a great guy and helped me a lot when I first got into American O.

CHEERS MIKE

Wow Paul, I don’t know you or remember you, but Godspeed and best wishes. I guess I’ve been blessed with good health to my mid seventies, so can’t even imagine what you are going through. But hang in there.

When I relocated to the mainland after 30 years in Hawaii and built another layout, this was the first forum I joined and liked it. Then I moved on to another forum after a few years, then on to another one a few years after that.

Now I’m back where I started and enjoy being on this one again. This forum seems to have the diversity, participation, and dynamics the other two just don’t have.

So I’m sure I’m not alone in hoping that we’ll be hearing from you from time to time. In the meantime, be careful and take care.
