For those who have the MTH McDonald’s Drive-Thru, can you tell me a bit more of the vehicles that MTH used on them? Are the 1:43 or 1:48 in size? Are they plastic shells or are they diecast?
I’m thinking of eventually getting one of the McDonald’s units – which are always overpriced whenever they show up on eBay, back then and now still – and would like to know if the vehicles that come with the restaurant are universally replaceable, or can only be used with vehicles that MTH supplied. I’m only interested in the 1970’s to the present, so other than the Ford Explorer which is one of the vehicles that I’ve seen with it, the 1950’s models would not suffice.
Basically, how are the vehicles attached to the track? It is a protruding rod from the track that could be used with any mass market 1/43 vehicle (with or without some modification), or is a base chassis that is designed specifically to work with the track and the MTH car bodies are plastic shells to put on/off? This question also applies to the MTH car wash and Mel’s diner. If I’m able to use any 1/43 vehicle, the possibilities are endless for me with the classic 1970s-1980's restaurant design.
Thanks!
