There's Lots of fear down this way when the Vermonter gets put back on the CT River line at the end of the month. Neighborhoods that haven't see trains moving faster than 10 MPH in decades will suddenly be moving 70 MPH. RR Crossings that people haven't been noticing when they cross them will have to watch out. Kids taking short cuts to school, etc etc
This might be a rare case where nobody was at fault. The reports says the crossing was "icy and ungated". The car may have been stuck before there was any indication of the train's approach.
