On Sunday I met up with forum member Ed Mullan and we chased the 734 up the mountain. Here is the video I shot. Turn up your speakers and listen to her chuff and she climbs the grades, and listen to that beautiful whistle.

That whistle sounds great. It sounds real close to the original 611 Whistle. Great video also.

Thank you.
I was never a fan of the "hooter" style whistle until I heard one in person. It was a really fun trip and I can not wait to make it back to the WMSR to see the 1309.
Wonderful video, Jim! It has been a long time since I was there. I used to live nearby, on the West Virginia side of the Potomac. 20 years ago now. Thank you for posting!
Great Video!
If memory serves me, the whistle is an original off of a WM I-2 Decapod.
Thanks for posting!
Those steamers sound much more alive than the models do. That video captures it. WOW. Very nice video.
A lot of excellent sounds and camera angles. Well done.
This is my favorite from your YT Public Video.

Jdevleerjr, I rode behind the 734 two summers ago while vacationing at our cabin in Capon Bridge, West Virginia. Its a great trip in beautiful scenic country but I took only still photos. Your great video helped recapture the mood of that memorable ride. Great job!
I've ridden in the cab of WMSR 734 twice and got to operate GP30 #502 as well. What machines. Would like to get up there later this year to see 734 one more time as well.
Considering I grew up going to the B&O Museum, climbing on, photographing, and touching the 1309, seeing that thing run will be something else. For all those years, who would've EVER thought she'd be brought back to life!
Speaking of the whistle....being a B&O guy and growing up and still living not far from B&O Metropolitan Sub (now CSX), the B&O 6 chime whistle that was on 734 some years ago was great!

Great pics. I really would love to do a cab ride someday. Maybe when they have the 1309 running!
