After moving to the DC area in August 2022, I cast about in search of an interesting shortline to supplement CSX for "local" action. I found the Maryland & Delaware which, while a relative shadow of itself from a decade or so ago (at one point rostering a T6 and RS-1s?!) still runs two and a half interesting operations on the former Pennsylvania Railroad Centreville/Worton, Cambridge, and Selbyville lines. On the day I tried for the Federalsburg line in hopes of seeing Delmarva Central SE-1 as well, RS-3m 1203 had the honors of a semi-rare mid-day run from Federalsburg to Seaford and Hurlock. With friendly crews, interesting power, and some interesting shots, MDDE's become my favorite 'local' (2-hour drive, often at 4:30 AM) shortline.

I apologize for the less-than-stellar camera work, while I was still using a tripod at this point, it was my first time on the line, and the crew was in a hurry, so my camera work was not as smooth as it should be.

I hope the EPA doesn't force all short lines to retire their Alco's and older EMD's and GE's and order new low emission diesels. They're doing it in California and Ohio. Like Napa Valley Wine Train, Ohio Central (G&W) for example.

Just a matter of time. Our campus has several older diesel generators (Tier I), that are limited in operating hours on our air permit for emissions.

Nice to see an old ALCO in revenue service.
