Powered diesel has dual can motors,  8-wheel drive, and 4 traction tires.  Is a great puller.   Will fly off the track if not careful.  Lionel made these for 2 years. 1988 and 1989.   Lighted train looks great when the room   lights are off.   I will eventually install LED lighting to eliminate the flickering.

Here's my first Silver Spike set in 2008, which had 6 cars.  When I dismantled this layout, I sold it along with the Lionel 2065 Hudson you see in the video.   I regretted selling almost everything.   So now I am buying again many of those items.   The Silver Spike is a start.  This was an unique layout in that it had several brands of track all intermixed.

BTW, in the 80's i had a layout with the 70's era Atlas O 2-rail track, ,  sectional and flex.  Was very inexpensive back then.  ( $.99 per straight or curve)  I installed an HO-scale rail for the center rail.   Trains ran smooth and quiet.  No need to modify wheels.   Will try to find some pics to post.

I got some of the cars, both add on and from the set from a dealer at a TCA meet.  Run them with the LAKE SHORE set.  Power them with Amt ABA F3 and PREAMBLE EXPRESS F3.

The only issue I see with the cars is it is silver under the red and blue strips in the window area.  That should be white.  But the diner and combo cars are great add ons.  L in the 1950's should have made them.
