Nice videos! Interesting consist of hoppers and boxcars. Wonder if they're actually carrying anything. I assume there are more passenger cars on this trip. If so, where would the BB pick those up? Never seen a baywindow at the rear of a BB consist (or anywhere else active on the UP, for that matter). Obviously the UP kept at least one of those!

No, those freight cars were/are all empty. Used for braking. On the westbound move, a diesel was added into the consist, for dynamic brake assist on the long mountainous down grades into Roseville, CA.

The freight cars were dropped in Roseville, CA and the business/passenger cars were added for the fund raising trip eastward from Roseville to Sparks, NV (the passengers were then bussed back to Roseville). At Ogden, UT. the business/passenger cars were removed and the empty freight cars were returned. The business/passenger cars continued back westward as an Engineering Inspection train to Seattle and back.

That is a special "snow caboose", modified from an original bay window caboose, and is assigned to the big rotary snowplow kept at Cheyenne.

EDIT: Looks like Hot Water has updated the deal.

My guess is the passenger cars the BB had in California are in Ogden???  Due to the IT meltdown, we did not beat the BB to Ogden, it was in the siding when we arrived. Thus, no idea what it was pulling when it arrived. However, the Utah railroad museum is in Ogden and there were a number of shining UP passenger cars in the siding behind the museum.  I thought they would leave with the BB but they obviously did not.  My guess is they were left in Ogden at the museum- no idea where the hoppers and boxcars came from.  Maybe others have some insights.
