I plan to set up in Altavista to video 611's move to Roanoke on Saturday. Departure from Spencer is advertised at 7:45. Altavista is around 140 road miles north of Spencer so I'd expect to see her sometime after 11:15, and more likely closer to noon given the 40mph steam speed limit. Opposing traffic could really through off the schedule so I'll bring a book to read to kill time.
Does anyone have a recommendation on how to get updates on the trains progress? It would good to have a heads up when the train passes through cities on the route - particularly Danville, VA.
