Harleylito's thread on accident scenes and some of the car vignettes posted there got me thinking about a series of vignettes I could do around car scenes.  The idea of accident called up Jan and Dean's song Deadman's Curve and I see this scene with a totalled XKE and Sting Ray wrecked nearby (has to be a split window couple, too) with a body bag over to the side of the road, and the other driver sitting on a gurney and telling a paramedic, "Well the last thing I remember, doc, I started to swerve . . . "

Other cool car vignette scenes that come to mind are:

A Little Old Lady from Pasadena.  Jan and Dean again.  Superstock dodge.

Hot Road Lincoln

Little Deuce Coupe - crossing over to the movies a minute, it has to be Milner's of course, has to have Carol in it.

Other ideas?

HEY SPENCE:

A few years before those on your list was "Buick 59", by the Medallions, released in 1954.   It had nothing to do with the future 1959 Buick.

"She's got an 8-cylinder motor and a jet-propelled Overdrive,

She's got 2 carburetors and a Supercharger up on the side!"

Check it out on YouTube...you'll dig that Boogie-Woogie piano...a very rhythmic Rhythm & Blues tune, before Rock & Roll emerged.

Listen carefully at the end when the lead vocalist says "Oh man, I done run outta gas!" (a voice in the bckground, barely audible, says "Ain't that a b----")

RIP TRACK

You wanna hear the full version of "The passengers will please refrain"?

Then go to YouTube and enter "The Pasengers will please refrain", from Bawdy Songs by Oscar Brand, (1956)

The tune is to the lovely "Humoresque" by Dvorak.

Anyone remember "Transfusion" by Nerous Norvus?

Oh rollin' down the highway on a rainy day

When you see me coming, ya better start to pray

Hey dig that man,  was that a red stop sign?

(crash sounds)

Transfusion, transfusion, Oh doc pardon me for this crazy intrusion

I'm never never never gonna speed again

Pass the claret to me Barrett

Barnyard drivers they come in two classes

Line crowding hogs and speeding jack asses

You cross the center line - man you gotta make time

(crash sounds)

Transfusion, transfusion Oh doc pardon me for this crazy intrusion

I'm never never never gonna speed again

Make that type 'O' Daddy-O

There were several more verses - anyone remember?  How do I remember this?

Where's my glasses....

HEY C. SAM,

Heck yeah I remember Nervous Norvus!

Some of the last words to his verses were:

Slip the Juice to me, Bruce!

Pass the Blood to me, Bud!

Slip the Crimson in me, Jimson.

Put a Gallon in me, Alan.

Pump the Fluid to me, Louie.

Wanna hear it agan?  Just go to YouTube and enter "Transfusion Nervous Norvus".

RIP TRACK

Did you guys know that "My Little GTO" was produced and paid for by Pontiac (Rest in Peace) Motor Division of General Motors. We were duped into thinking that it was a spontaneous hot rod song. I resisted and bought a Ford Fairlaine GTA in 1966. "Little Deuce Coupe" has always been my favorite. The largest Street Rod show in the country comes to Louisville every August. 2,000 street rods in one place... heaven.

Trainman,

Louisville isn't that far from the Buckeye capital; you should drive up the 2nd weekend in July - the Good Guys cruise-in had an attendance of 5500 plus cars this year!

The Arthritis cruise-in is also that weekend (I help out, judging, etc) but our cruise-in is in a beautiful setting in the burb of Dublin, on the grass, under trees in the shade with lots of food...  unlike Good Guys which is on the tarmack at the fairgrounds with no trees.

This year we had 1800 plus cars and even more when the Good Guys ended for the evening and some of them came to visit us, enjoy the food and live 50's/60's rock & roll bands!

Best,

Dave

Oh, yes!  I was trying to remember the name of that song.  "His horn went beep, beep, beep." and finally "How do you get this car out of second gear?"

I gotta do some of these vignettes.  Where I will get the time, I don't know, but . . .

Wow, this is fun!

What, no Rocket 88? (Carol? Only trouble there:-)

Speaking of Super Stock Dodges (or Plymouths?) here's one against a Nova and a GS.

Would be a neat scene to model.

How 'bout this one:

"He never washed his face and he never combed his hair,

He had axle grease imbedded underneath his fingernails.

On the muscle of his arm was a red tatoo;

A picture of a heart, saying 'Mother I Love You'."
