I think Lionel had said this locomotive would be here Q2 2019? If I'm remembering that correctly, has anyone heard any updates on when they will be here?

Currently Lionel has them slated for July but some dealers are saying mid June.

Thanks! Great for saving my pennies ...
Then the question will become: how much do they differ from the catalog or the last batch....and is the silly silver paint on the boiler?
I've got one on BTO from Pat's Trains. Fingers crossed!

That's why I'm majorly apprehensive about preordering one.

I'm fundamentally opposed to BTO. But I decided to give it a whirl this time around.....mostly b/c I want a Legacy UP #3985 without smoke deflectors.
We'll see what happens.

This will fall into the ouch-o-meter in funding after pre-ordering. Day of reckoning. I am looking forward to putting this on my challenger Passenger Set.
I bought 3985 with a black tender. Kind of getting tired of yellow AT. Have 3 now.
Hopefully it WL be on target. Since this is something that has been made before, that it should be something that the dates are very close to being right.

One would think. But if they keep on changing factories/manufacturers, you can almost throw that way of thinking out the door.
For example, they have had a scale Lima/NKP Berk since 2003 or so. You would THINK each new version would improve or be equal to the last.
Sadly, that's not the case. The last version was nowhere near as nice as anything that came before.
