Christmas Greetings from Virginia Forumites!!! I was given the Lionel Legacy System along with the Vision Line tank car set this year! Up until now I have run everything via DCS so I am excited to enter the world of Vision Line and Legacy. I must admit that I have not had an easy time trying to set up the tank cars in the remote, but that said I noticed that without the remote on or the base even hooked to the track the tank cars make the sounds as they travel around the track. No talking but definitely all other sounds. Should that be happening? Also, is there some sort of eastern tutorial, like the MTH O Gauge Companion, that I can use to get more quickly up to speed in Legacy?

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Honestly most is covered in the manual although sometimes the manual jumps around a bit.

MartyE made several videos

And so did Lionel

My biggest tip to all new Legacy users, change your engine ID to anything between 2 and 98 before trying to set your engine up. Always leave ID 1 open and set to CAB-1 and remember on new engines 99 is a "All Engines" function.

As for the vision tankers, never had one but did hear they are a bit tricky to set up. But I have heard they are awesome

I run only conventional and the Vision cars, like the locos, make various noises on their own as they move.  I'm not sure if they make braking noises when the slow down (the locos do) but they make "realistic" noises just because the track is has voltage and they are moving.  I have never heard them "talk" or do anything else - you probably need the Legacy controller to cause that to happen.
