- Got to finally meet Doug & visit his & his fathers layout today. What an incredible setup. Lots of big engines and smoke for the afternoon. Thanks again for letting my brother and me invade the place.

I need to come see it sometime...
What a great looking layout! It looks like you had a great time.

Ahhh that tiny little layout!
I want to say congrats but I am too jealous!
You walk in their front door and this greets you. Your first reaction is "holy **it"! Shock value is a 10.
Roman, I think my first reaction was, "And your mother let you guys do this in the living room?" But she was totally cool and even on board with the project. It is quite magnificent and worthy of such a prominent and conspicuous place in their home.
Would love to see Doug's layout sometime too!
Thank you Roman, glad you and your brother made it. Next time we'll get your trains out of the car and run them too. It was a pleasure hanging out with you.
Now this is something I would have loved to do!
Awesome Doug!
Fantastic layout. Wish I was there !!
Happy New Year to you all !!
Scrappy
That's impressive Doug! Awesome work!
Had a great conversation with Dougs mom and saw how much she enjoyed it too even though his dad mention she did put a kabash on an extension into the adjacent room.
One other impressive thing is the brewery made by Alex Malliae. How dumb of me not to take a photo even though it hadn't been placed yet on the layout.
Layout in the Living Room. Clearly excellent priorities in that family!
Reminds me of a few years ago while at O Scale West and doing the big layout tour I opened the front door into the living room of the host house (it opened outward, first sign I was in for something special) and -- wa la!! -- a trestle across the doorway at about 4 feet off the floor. I ducked under and -- wow -- the layout went around the living room walls, into the dining room/kitchen then out into the double car garage and back into the house. You had to duck under the layout to go from one room to the next; living room, bathroom, bedrooms, dining area/kitchen and garage. He was single by the way. The home was in the Bay Area of course where real estate is expensive. I asked him what was next and he said his long term goal was to move to South Dakota where real estate was cheap and to buy a really big house and fill it with a really big layout. I asked him if he planned to stay single.
Layout looks great and so do the pictures. Looks like a very nice and enjoyable visit. Thanks for posting!
The late Bob Roach had his O scale 2-rail layout in the two front rooms of his house up in the bay area. Many California houses have a living room and den, but most people seem to congregate in the Den and the living room is almost unused. Seems like a perfect location for a train layout, especially if you normally enter the house from the side door rather than the front.
Matt, agree. Whatever works for the folks involved is good. Different strokes for different folks. And L-O-S's layout above is a thing of beauty. Now on to open discussions with my wife on a potential better use of our living room .
Nice layout and a talented modeler.
Absolutely fantastic layout !!!
So Nicely done !!!
Alex

Yes, Doug is "LAIDOFFSICK" and is eMail should still be in his profile, even though he moved.
Great that we here on OGR can visit with different people who enjoy trains and have layouts. Nice to go see anothers layout and sometimes come away with ideas.
He soon moved to Albuquerque after my visit! Was it something I said?
