Yesterday, on our way to a family reunion in Napoleon, OH, my wife and I visited the Mad River & NKP Museum in Bellevue, OH. The link to the photos I took can be found in the "What's New" box HERE.

great photos bill! i think this is a museum that not too people know about.if your in the northern ohio area, its well worth the time to visit.-jim
I showed up here in the winter when, naturally, it was closed, and have not made it
back. I think? this is where I saw an original REA truck on the grounds, (was it?)which was interesting as would be the Troop Train car they show on their web site.
Very nice photos. Thanks....
I enjoy Mad River & Nickel Plate museum very much and make an annual visit. Being a dome car fan, the first dome car is on display at Mad River. The Silver Dome which was the prototype / first dome ever created is in their collection. They hope to restore it eventually. Many of the locomotive cabs and cars are open to see. Another favorite being the Wabash F unit.
They are open daily through the summer 12 to 4. Weekends only through the fall. I wish that they could add extended hours, sometimes it is tough to get there early enough and then closing time at 4 comes fast.
I went "training" yesterday. I drove across Ohio to visit several train shops and visit the Mad River and Nickle Plate Museum. I spent several hours exploring the displays at the museum. I like the fact that the "yard" across the tracks is open all of the time. I went through the main displays first then roamed about the yard after hours. One of the volunteers directed me to an observation platform just to the east of the museum, next to the main line. I spent about an hour there taking photos. As I was heading to Fostoria for more railfanning I happened upon NS Heritage unit 8025. Spent about an hour and a half at Fostoria before the weather man said I should head home. Had a great day.
