I was traveling to Indy for work this past week, and was able to break a way and make the trip north to Atlanta IN and stop in to the Mr. Muffins Train Shop.

I had pretty big expectations because I have know Steve for a long time, and in my dealings with he and his family when they purchased Korber Models from us, I understood the high caliber folks they really are. Having not one, but two location's on the main street in Atlanta really gives yo the understanding of the impact they are making in this town.

While the layout was closed when I dropped by, the shop was in full swing. Lots of inventory, well organized, bring and clean.  There were many items on display, but not simply trains, a lot of scenery items, models, as wells as magazines and books.

They have a organized ans well appointed repair shop, certainly someplace I would consider sending my trains to for repair.  Much cleaner and organized than what I have seen at other shops.  For me the icing on the cake were the two cats that live at the shop, one was very friendly and came out to see me, his sister was a bit more timid.

They were busy shipping a lot of orders out the door as well.

I found some figures to ad to my layout, I ended up with a large bag full of them with several scenes in mind.

If you happen to be any where near Indy, take the extra few minutes to zip up the highway and stop in and see the Muffins.  There is a cool little homemade pie shop near by for a snack.

Us Muffins to open a cafe in Atlanta, IN

This 3000 square foot former restaurant became part of MrMuffin'sTrains last week as we acquired it and plan to open a cafe here in 2018. Located at 185 W Main Street, it is right next door to our shop at 177 W Main Street. The layout and collection are at 165 E Main Street - a block away.
We are planning to call it the Choo Choo Cafe, though Chew Chew Cafe; Choo Choo and Chew Cafe; and Choo Chew Cafe have been suggested. What do you think?

I wonder how long before Mr. Muffin takes over the full scale Nickel Plate Road line that goes through Atlanta and starts operating REAL trains? Way he is going I would not be surprised!

And yes, I'm aware of the ongoing saga of that very rail line - just hope it does not become a trail in the future!

Thank you so much, everyone, and I am so sorry I missed your visit, Rich.... I had headed for campus to teach my evening course.....

As a matter of fact, we are part of the Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad that we helped to organize in 2016 and we won the contract to operate the NKP tracks right out our door. We will be running the railroad from Atlanta, IN to the county seat in Noblesville, starting with runs from Atlanta to Arcadia in May, 2018.
