Visited the TCA museum and the Pennsylvania museum and of course the Strasburg railroad. We had a great time.

The Pennsy museum was fantastic and even the rail yard was open to look at the engines stored outside for a up close look.

The  TCA museum while housing allot of history of toy trains and some new displays, it just looks old And tired. Yes I know it was just upgraded but to me I think they spent the money on the wrong things.

The museum is in need of some good house cleaning, dust on displays etc. and not very inviting IMO.

too bad because it could be great.

The Toy Train Museum and TCA Museum are one and the same.  I know a lot of work and money was put into the renovations but I also find it less inviting than before - not sure why, maybe the "cold" color of the new LED lighting, maybe the new floor plan, probably a combination of things.  But also agree with comment above that the library is still a wonderful place with great resources and a very helpful and knowledgeable librarian.

I think that most of us familiar with the TCA and the Museum realize that this facility has been a rather expensive proposition for the past several years. The issues with the sewer system alone has cost big bucks to resolve. Balancing a budget under these conditions is not easy and add to this a declining membership and recent dues increase.

With that being said, I am still glad that the Museum exists and is available to it's members and the general public. It may not be perfect, but certainly represents our hobby very well. As finances improve, hopefully we will see improvements in the future. The TCA represents most of us so it is up to us to stand behind it and support it in any way we can.

Dear Dave,

Retirement is certainly great, and one of the nicest parts of retirement is the ability of volunteering. Since you live in Exton,Pa.,about 45 minutes-1 hour away from the TCA museum, I am sure they could use your help and volunteer to help clean and spruce up a great treasure like the TCA museum in the Strasburg,Pa. area.
