Congratulations on this acquisition, Bob. Hope you enjoy it for many years.
Wait until you run it! It'll blow you away with all the cool sounds. And, get ready for the whistle!
It's one, if not, the best Lionel locomotive of modern times.
Congrats, you're going to love it.
I am very much looking forward to the whistle sound.I really mainly bought it for the sound system and the smoke features.

Bob - I too just love the whistle. Lionel really nailed with this one.

The whistle is the best I've ever heard on any model. It actually sounds like a real train coming down the tracks.
The new BB I bought is just great. The thing is BIG. Needed to make many mods to my layout because when it articulates around the curves it was hitting some of my buildings. Gunrunnerjohn great mods on the intermodal crane. I modified some of my trailers and made then lighter. If you have some time I would appreciate the mods you did to the speed issue. I agree that it should be a tad slower so it is easier to move. Nick
I am in full agreement a great engine and my will not run on my Legacy system, RGA requested.

I just did some adjustment of the resistors in the controller to speed up or slow down motors. My experience was I needed more resistance for the traverse motor and less resistance for the lift motor. Now they're much better balanced. I use 16 volts to run it, that seems to be the right voltage. It's also very important to lube things so there the least amount of friction possible, the gearing on these is too "toy-like", they should have been much lower geared.
I'm still not happy with the drive motors that move the crane, they're much too fast. I'm not sure you can make them any better, if you reduce the drive much the crane won't move at all. The really need gears as well.
