Hi - i picked up an MTH FA-2 AA Diesel Set with Proto 1. The trains lights. runs, but the volume is soooo low I can barely hear the horn/bells/announcements. I've put in a new battery, no change. i've turned the volume up on the volume control beneath the engine, no change. Any other suggestions?

You could try turning the volume knob back and forth (the full range) several times as oxidization may have occurred. Once this resolved the same problem I was having on one of my engines.

Remember not only is there a volume pot, but also there is digitally a stored volume and so not resetting the engine could be why the volume is still low.

In addition, the volume control or the speaker may be the reason the volume is low.
Further to gunrunnerjohn's comment, if for no other reason than self-awareness you should do a Search of a previous Post on this Forum entitled 'Old MTH speaker possibly broken. Help needed". The photos in particular of the old Star speaker are helpful to know, just in case that's the problem.
