Picked up a Legacy GP9 today (6-82785) and I noticed the volume was kind of low (I like really loud). I did all the soft key commands and decided to see if the manual POT was just turned down. While the engine is running turning the POT in any direction does not change the volume at all. Is this by design with the Legacy system overriding that adjustment or should that actually change the volume.

FWIW I think it should change the volume; it's certainly not unknown to have a bad volume pot on an engine that's been sitting in the box for a few years.
This thread from a few years back discusses wider issues (including adjusting background sounds separately from others) but confirms that the volume pot is not overriden by the Legacy system:
Shoot a little contact cleaner in the pot, it should affect the volume in command or conventional mode.
Brought it to my LHS and we looked at it and it’s indeed a bad POT. We used some contact cleaner and we could turn it a bit and the sound was louder, but that involved applying pressure to the side of the POT and moving it around. The internal tech is going to fix it on Tuesday.
